trope idea

 "they fall in love in every universe" trope but instead of different universes, its just different corners of the internet like they fall for each other then lose touch or whatever, delete accounts, maybe parents catch them, change their online names, move sites and find each other again they fall in love over and over and only discover that its been the same person all along way down the line, when they know each other irl and finally feel comfortable enough talking about their exes.

jake peralta and james potter

 jake peralta being a james potter variant to me really shows why people might characterise james as an ally and nothing more. on the surface, both jake and james appear to be nothing more but straight himbos. all you have to do is look a little deeper though and realise the himbo-ness and their intense love for their wife means they themselves don't even realise they're bisexual.

harry potter-esque magic school

a friend and i caught up a few days ago and we got all chatty and giggly as friends do. we're both harry potter fans in our own way but they find it harder to interact with a lot of the content, especially because their trans so a lot of our conversations revolve around what we would change about the series or what jkr missed, etc.

eventually, we ended up saying that we'd create our own magic school as a "fuck you" to jkr as a way to make everyone as gay as we want and also that way we can fill in the gaps in the lore, create a world that is more nuanced than the harry potter universe. and just a safe space for everyone.

anyway, we made a discord server and we created houses and a sorting system and we're going to create characters and a magic system and magical creatures, etc, etc. we would love to have more members so we can really have a wider range of ideas and knowledge.

we waited until we had houses sorted because that way when you join you can already begin to immerse yourself by picking a house.

this sort of started as a play on harry potter and we'll probably most likely include references to things and take inspiration from things but we also want to make it our own.

a little bit of info on our houses to show you some of our worldbuilding so far !!

There are four houses you can be sorted into; Coramina, Caerulique, Puracentis and Auravia. Students are assigned a house based on their outlook and approach to magic. The houses are named after the philosophy of magic they're based on.

Sorting

Houses are assigned via a ring that is gifted to you on your first day of school. It looks like a normal, non-magic mood ring at first but when you try it on, it will brightly glow the colour of the house you are being assigned. The ring is a keepsake that students get to take home. It functions like a mood ring most days, turning random colours based upon your temperature and maybe sometimes your actual mood. Sometimes though, if you are too immersed into a certain approach of magic, it will brightly glow again, the colour of that magic style, whether its your houses approach or a different one, to applaud your dedication or remind you to take a break.

Coramina

Colours: bright pink and mint

Crest: Malus domestica (Apple)

Coramina house members have a very internal view of magic. At first, Coramina house members might struggle with simple spells because in order to truly make the most of magic, they tend to need to look deeply inside and understand the depths that their magic can go. Coramina has a very emotional approach to magic, and are most likely to put hexes or slow, karmic spells on people. In general, Coramina wixens have to accept that their magic is slow, often they get best results when they take their time. To Coramina, magic is an art form, an expression of emotion, something that comes from deep within.

Auravia

Colours: orange and dark red

Crest: Citrus sinensis (Orange)

Auravia house members tend to look at specific types of magic and how that specific style works and compliments other styles. Auravia wixens tend to prefer group magic wherein each group member has a specific skillset and knowledge. They’re the most likely to form covens. Auravia house members are also the most likely to become conspiracy theorists or deeply obsessed with magic and theories because their view of magic is so specific and can lead them down rabbitholes. To Auravia, magic is an interest to pursue, with a million different techniques to choose to specialise in, in which it is best to pick a specific path to go down instead of trying to walk them all.

Caerulique

Colours: light blue and dark teal

Crest: Nemophila (baby blue eyes)

Caerulique house members see magic as a constant thing, something that is all around and should be considered in every interaction. They have a deep curiosity about all magics and a desire to understand a little bit about everything. They are most likely to be adept at everyday magic, and practice most regularly. They’re the least likely to fit into non-magic culture because they can’t help stirring their tea with magic and intent, can’t help whispering spells while reading or studying. Their magic is in almost constant use which is sometimes to their detriment, but when done right, can energise them and enhance their life. To Caerulique, magic is a way of life, is everywhere, is a muscle that needs to be flexed regularly to stay strong.

Puracentis

Colours: purple and navy

Crest: Echeveria (Purple Pearl)

Puracentis house sees magic as force used for protection and for efficiency. They like magic that is quick and immediate, and often have very little patience for slower spells. They tend to have a preference for defensive spells or spells that are practical and useful. Puracentis wixens are who you’d most want to get lost with or go on adventures with because of their handy spell knowledge. They’re most likely to overly use spells like summoning a book that’s just out of arms reach or cleaning a spill with a wave of their hand. To Puracentis, magic is a tool, a quicker means to an end, a way of making life easier.

crossovers

 i will always and forever be a crossover girlie. the concept of it always intrigues me. what if this group of characters from a fandom were put in a different fandom world? what if these two characters who are very similar met? what if every piece of media i ever loved was combined into one?

genderbent marauders

 my what seems to be unpopular opinion about genderbent marauders is that i don't think their names need to be changed at all. james is a unisex name, sirius and remus are rare enough names that rarely anyone is gonna go "oh but remus was a boy in roman mythology, you can't be called remus" and i've known two female peta's but i hate spelling names different for the girl vs guy versions.

plus i love it when girls have names that are typically assigned to guys.

regg or redge

 
i pronounce reg/reggie as regg/reggie but in the same way that i pronounce bridgid as briggid. because its silly and fun

technically i’m team redge but i will always say regg.

sirius' middle name

 So I know fanon has collectively decided that sirius' middle name is orion because it makes more sense but my headcanon is that he refuses to use that name and that's where Sirius Lee black comes from.

I like to imagine it started as a joke. Whenever someone said something like "Seriously, Black?" he'd say "how do you know my middle name" or "how dare you middle name me". And then ofc the marauders would catch on and perpetuate the joke. Then Sirius would start signing his name 'Sirius L Black' and it would just become accepted that it's the only middle name he'll go by.
